Feb. 20 Meeting: BATW Awards Presentation

Bay Area Travel Writers

2010 Biennial Awards Presentation

Sat., Feb. 20, at 10 a.m.

Book Passage in Corte Madera

It’s time again to celebrate and honor BATW members for outstanding writing and photography. This year the awards committee received more submissions than ever before. We will also be giving out our Planet Earth Award (open to travel writers everywhere), which is for travel writing that helps sustain or enhance the unique and valuable character of a place—its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage and/or the well-being of its residents. And we will be giving our Rebecca Bruns Award, which honors an individual who inspires others—by creativity, hard work, dedication to craft and commitment to BATW.

Coordinator: Karen Misuraca and her committee, all volunteers, have done an outstanding job, finding the best of the best judges and procuring wonderful prizes.

Our host: Once again the fabulous Book Passage in Corte Madera (Bay Area’s Liveliest Bookstore) is generously offering their store for our awards meeting.

Your books: If you send me, Sandy Sims (sansims@aol.com), a list of your books to put on display for our meeting, I will forward it to Book Passage. They will do the best they can to find and display them, but there are no guarantees.

Guests welcome

Directions from Book Passage website:

From North of Corte Madera
(101 Southbound):
Take the Lucky Drive exit. If you are coming from the East Bay via the Richmond – San Rafael Bridge, this will be the first exit immediately after getting on Highway 101. Turn left at the first signal onto Tamal Vista Blvd. Go straight through the next signal light. Book Passage is immediately on your left, just after the Department of Motor Vehicles, in a small shopping center called the Marketplace.

From South of Corte Madera
(101 Northbound over the Golden Gate Bridge):
Take the Paradise Drive/Tamalpais Drive exit and turn left, crossing the freeway. At the third stoplight (which is just a short distance from the freeway) turn right onto Madera Blvd. At the stop sign, proceed straight. The street name changes to Tamal Vista Blvd. You will pass the Bank of Marin and the Cinema Theater. Book Passage is on your right, just after the Corte Madera Village Suites, in a small shopping center called the Marketplace.

By Bus:
You can get here by bus. You can get information on bus lines if you go to http://tripplanner.transit.511.org (a little daunting) or call Golden Gate Transit at (415) 923-2000 and get a voice (yea!!!)
