Hello, BATW Members & Potential Members –
We have a new format, and we hope this gives you a quicker way to find all the news, events, announcements, photos and articles ont the BATW e-zine. There’s a lot going on — we listed 48 new announcements and stories just for April, 2009. Here’s information that will help you find them all.
Featured Article:
The featured article at the top of the screen will be each month’s BATW meeting. Soon we’ll add a button to the right for registering for the event.
Six Categories Below:
The six categories below the featured article (”BATW News”, “Upcoming BATW Events”, etc.) will list three of the month’s articles (kind of a teaser, you see). For more articles, either click on “See All BATW News” or “See All BATW Events”, etc., below the third headline OR click on a category or headline in the right-side column (under “This Month in BATW” or “Table of Contents” [a.k.a., Index]) OR click on the same category in the blue bar near the top of the screen (see “Navigation Hints” below).
Navigation Hints:
If you click on items in the horizontal white bar under the photo at the top of the screen (like “Members’ Books” or “Photo Gallery”), you’ll go to permanent information on the site. If you click on items in the horizontal blue bar, you’ll get to various sections or categories (”Events — BATW”, “Events — All”, etc.). Some of those categories have “drop-down menus” with sub-categories (like “News” contains “BATW News”, “Member News”, “Industry News”, etc.).
We’ve also added a “Search” feature in the right-side column to help you find articles by subject, author, photographer, etc.
Remember to SCROLL DOWN — many pages and posts are longer than they look at first.
Links:
If the person submitting the announcement gave us a link to where (for example) their event was taking place or their book could be purchased at an independent bookstore, we included those links. They are blue/teal and underlined. Click on a link, and a new window will open in your browser showing that other website.
Comments:
At the bottom of most posts, you can click on “Comments” to add your own remarks to the post. These comments are moderated, which means that to prevent someone from spamming the site, we approve comments before posting them.
Lost?:
If you get lost, you can always click on either “Home” near the upper-left corner of the page OR click on the “Bay Area Travel Writers” logo in the upper-left corner. Either action will take you back to the home page.
So . . .
We realize the new format might take some getting used to, but we hope you will ultimately find it useful — after all, that’s the whole point of this website!
Cheers,
April Orcutt
