There’s a new font, called
Ecofont, that reportedly uses 20% less ink when you use it to print out your documents.
It’s been developed by a Dutch communications company and is free. What they have done is create a sans-serif type that has small circular holes throughout, thereby saving the ink used when printing. It looks best in font sizes 9 – 11 and prints best on laser printers. I’ve compared it to TimesRoman and Palatino and although all three fonts are very different in style, you can’t see the tiny holes at the suggested sizes.
You might find it very practical for your rough drafts and everyday correspondence and save the more traditional fonts for you professional work. You can download it at ecofont.nl.
